Rollicking Good Time: VCGSRC’s ‘Pirates of Penzance’
The Ventura County Gilbert and Sullivan Repertoire Company’s 2025 production of “The Pirates of Penzance” is now showing at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.
Leave it to the British to poke fun at themselves — their upper crustiness and the snootiness of highfalutin’ opera. This tradition is carried on in the company’s latest rendition of “The Pirates of Penzance”.
The production may be small, but Gilbert and Sullivan’s brilliance and hilarity still shine through:

- the speedy lyrics
- the giggling daughters
- the not-so-brave pirates
