The Houlton/GHCA cross country program competed at the annual Red Riot Challenge hosted by Orono High School on October 11.
The meet featured a majority of Northern Maine Class C schools, providing a preview of the upcoming PVC Small School and Northern Maine regional championships.
The 4-kilometer course started at the athletic complex and finished in a wooded area, with near-ideal conditions: cool, sunny, and breezy.
A total of 18 programs participated, with Houlton/GHCA producing strong individual performances despite not fielding a full girls' team.
No full team was fielded but still several strong performances were produced.
