The political drama sparked by GERB-UDF leader Boiko Borissov has left the future of the government in question.
Borissov's coalition holds the mandate to govern, but his MPs and others from the ruling coalition are refusing to ensure a quorum, causing the National Assembly's scheduled sitting to not proceed for the second consecutive day.
The drama began on October 14, when Borissov gave a lengthy and emotional reaction to his coalition's poor showing in local elections in Pazardzhik, calling for a "reformatting" of the government.
Borissov's call for "reformatting" was endorsed by Delyan Peevski, leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning.
Peevski, who is sanctioned under the Magnitsky Act, holds significant influence over the government.
