Baltimore Man Arrested After Vehicle and Foot Pursuit in Arlington
A Baltimore man, Rashad Smith, is in police custody following a vehicle and foot pursuit on Interstate 395 northbound.
Smith has been charged with felony eluding, felony hit and run, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Virginia State Police, a trooper attempted to stop Smith, who had previously eluded an Alexandria City Police Department officer.
- The pursuit started at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Interstate 395 northbound.
- The suspect vehicle exited I-395 at Shirlington Circle and continued to Arlington Mill Drive and South Randolph Street, where it struck another vehicle.
- Smith abandoned his vehicle in a nearby parking garage and attempted to flee on foot.
- With the assistance of Arlington County Police and Alexandria City Police, he was captured a short time later.
