A man is suing the Virgin Islands Energy Office after they deferred a job offer he had accepted, prompting him to sell and donate his household belongings and move states.
According to court records, Carlson Swafford had been selected for the role of Distributed Energy Technologies Program Director after a series of interviews, with a start date set.
The job was “an enticing opportunity to dramatically enhance” Mr. Swafford's career, and came with an attractive salary and benefits.
However, the offer was deferred a day before his scheduled start date by Kyle Fleming, VIEO director, leading Mr. Swafford to take legal action.
