Lufthansa to Reduce Domestic Flights
German flag carrier Lufthansa plans to scale back its domestic flight operations due to rising operational costs, taxes, and airport fees.
Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr stated that expenses have doubled since 2019, leading to the cancellation of approximately 100 domestic flights per week next summer.
Further reductions would be inevitable if local costs are not brought under control.
Certain routes, such as Munich–Münster/Osnabrück and Munich–Dresden, are at risk due to unprofitable operations. International travel has recovered, but domestic routes in Germany remain behind, particularly business travel.
