US Federal Judge Orders ICE to Wear Body Cameras in Chicago
A US District Judge, Sara Ellis, has ordered federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to wear body cameras during enforcement activities and public interactions.
This order follows a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued by Judge Ellis last week and will be in effect until November 6.
I live in Chicago if folks haven’t noticed. And I’m not blind.
According to the TRO, ICE is prohibited from using riot control weapons, including less-lethal shotguns and tear gas, against protestors and journalists unless necessary to prevent harm.
- Riot control weapons prohibited include:
- Less-lethal shotguns
- 40 mm Munitions Launchers
- Pepper balls
- Tear gas
- At least two warnings and a reasonable opportunity to comply are required before using such weapons.
