Thieves Pull Off Heist at the Louvre with Visitors Inside
The Louvre, one of Paris' most iconic attractions, was robbed on Sunday morning while tourists were already inside.
According to French officials, the robbery occurred less than half an hour after the doors opened.
"A robbery took place this morning at the opening of the Louvre Museum," - Culture Minister Rachida Dati
The museum cited "exceptional reasons" for the closure. Videos on social media showed a main hallway barred off with security guards standing by, and people gathered in the grand lobby below the iconic Louvre Pyramid.
