Halloween Reflections from Teen Corner

Halloween Reflections from Teen Corner

This edition of Teen Corner features eight teens discussing their family Halloween traditions and the challenges of trick-or-treating with food allergies.

One teen shares their approach to handling Halloween treats, using specific buckets for chocolate, candy without top allergens, and non-food items, and informing kids which candy is which when handing them out.

My neighborhood is very large, and we have lots of kids that come to our house with allergies. It is really rewarding to see how excited kids with food allergies, like me, get when they realize candy or items are available to them.

Another initiative involved delivering teal pumpkins filled with non-food treats to schools and dentists, receiving positive feedback on the impact it had on students with food allergies, making them feel seen and included.

Author's summary: Teens share Halloween traditions and food allergy challenges.
