Change of Position Leads to Success for Cape Breton Rugby Player

Cape Breton rugby player Brielynn Murrant has won the AUS most valuable player award with Acadia, following a change of position on the pitch.

Murrant, from Port Caledonia, was uncertain about her position going into her third season in the Atlantic University Sport women’s rugby league.

"I personally didn’t know where I was going to fall," said Murrant. "I didn’t know what position I was going to be playing, there were lots of things changing all the time, but I went with the flow.

Murrant had previously won an AUS championship with the Acadia Axewomen in 2024, their first in nine years.
