Reading Academies Show Progress in Improving Early Literacy

The Kentucky Department of Education's Kentucky Reading Academies have shown rapid progress in improving early literacy for Kentucky's students, according to a new report.

A third-party evaluator's report reveals increases in student reading scores and educator knowledge in evidence-based literacy practices since the program began three years ago.

“The early results from our Kentucky Reading Academies show the investments in early literacy are already paying off for our students and our educators,”

said Commissioner of Education Robbie Fletcher. He added that as more educators complete the professional learning, student literacy outcomes are expected to improve further.
