The hockey community is mourning the loss of Jake Patterson, who died suddenly on Oct. 16 at the age of 31, leaving behind his partner, Chelsea, and their three-and-a-half-year-old son, Luca.
Patterson developed through local programs, including the Sault Ste. Marie North Stars and Soo Greyhounds AAA programs, where his skill and composure in goal stood out at a young age.
He was selected by the Plymouth Whalers in the seventh round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, before making his mark with the London Knights.
He is remembered for his talent between the pipes and his kindness off the ice.
