Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings: A Catalyst for Women's Empowerment in Ghana
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away on 23 October 2025 at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy as Ghana's leading champion of women's economic empowerment.
Her impact extends beyond her role as First Lady, as she led a movement that helped Ghanaian women reclaim their place in the economy, become business owners, and build their own legacies.
The foundation of her empowerment movement was income generation, which she believed would lead to meaningful change.
She founded the 31st December Women's Movement in 1982 to mobilise rural and urban women into productive ventures.
