Virtual Appearance for Accused
The Kerala High Court has ruled that accused individuals, including those residing abroad, can answer questions virtually or in writing, as per Section 351 of the Cr.P.C.

The Hon'ble Supreme Court has held that "when any such statement is filed, the Court is obliged to make it part of the record of the case."
- In the case of Basavaraj R.Patil and others v. State of Karnataka and others [(2000) 8 SCC 740], the Supreme Court considered the question of whether an accused can file written submissions under Section 313 of the Cr.P.C.
This ruling allows for greater flexibility in the legal process, enabling accused individuals to participate in proceedings remotely.
