Daniel Yaw Domelevo, Board Chair of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), has expressed concern that fear of job loss or victimization prevents public sector workers from exposing corruption.
Mr. Domelevo noted that employees may detect wrongdoing, as in the cases of the National Food Buffer Stock Company and the DRIP equipment procurement, but remain silent to protect their livelihoods.
Workers, especially internal auditors who attempt to speak up, are often transferred, denied promotion, or dismissed altogether, creating an environment that enables corruption to flourish.
