Rail Minister Opens New Station in Essex

Rail minister Lord Hendy visited Britain's newest station, Beaulieu Park in north Chelmsford, after it opened to passengers.

The station was built with £141 million from the Government's Housing Infrastructure Fund, £12 million from the South-East Local Enterprise Partnership, and £22 million from the developers of Beaulieu.

The three-platform station features 705 parking spaces, a public transport interchange, and over 500 cycle spaces.

Greater Anglia, the operator, was nationalised earlier this month.

The first train to call on Sunday morning was the 07.20 to London Liverpool Street, with up to four trains an hour during peaks.
