Atiku Criticizes Tinubu's Presidential Pardon
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed disagreement with the recent presidential pardon issued by President Bola Tinubu.
The latest pardon issued by Tinubu is a reckless use of presidential pardon.
Atiku noted that a presidential pardon is a moral and constitutional instrument designed to temper justice with mercy and to underscore the humanity of the state. However, Tinubu used this power to extend clemency to individuals convicted of serious crimes such as drug trafficking, kidnapping, murder, and corruption.
In doing so, Tinubu has undermined the purpose of the presidential pardon, according to Atiku.
