Highlands junior Beau Hoge, a backup quarterback, led his team to victory in a high-scoring game against Warren Central.
Hoge threw 16 passes in three games during the first nine weeks of the regular season. However, when he replaced starting quarterback Drew Houliston in the 10th game, he threw for 417 yards and four touchdowns in a 71-69 win.
"We knew we were going to have to put up big numbers," Hoge said. "Obviously, we weren’t expecting that kind of a shootout, but it’s always fun when you get to stay in the whole game."
The two teams combined for 1,544 yards and 18 touchdowns. Highlands had several defensive starters out due to injuries, and Warren Central scored 10 touchdowns.
Author's summary: Highlands won a high-scoring game with 71 points.
