A significant amount of $22 million has been raised to defeat Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, with 26 billionaires contributing to his opposition.
Despite this, New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani remains a strong contender in the New York City mayoral race, surpassing Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.
His campaign has attracted opposition from prominent American billionaires, including Michael Bloomberg, Bill Ackman, and Richard Kurtz.
“Billionaires like Bill Ackman and Ronald Lauder have poured millions of dollars into this race because they say we pose an existential threat,” Mamdani told supporters at an October 13 rally. “I am here to admit something, they are right.”
According to Forbes, notable contributions include Bill Ackman's $1.75 million and Ronald Lauder's $750,000 to support groups opposing Mamdani.
