LSU has fired offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, the team announced Monday. Sloan was hired in 2022 as the quarterbacks coach by head coach Brian Kelly.
Sloan served as quarterbacks coach for two seasons and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2024. However, his offense in 2025 has underwhelmed, ranking No. 91 in red zone offense efficiency.
The team's offense has averaged 25.7 points per game through 8 games this season. As quarterbacks coach, Sloan helped develop Jayden Daniels, leading to the program's third Heisman Trophy winner.
On3 reported that tight ends coach Alex Atkins will serve as the offensive coordinator and play caller for the rest of the season.
