State Representative Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) has resigned from his seat, prompting a special election to find his replacement.
Wiedower, a four-term legislator, represented District 121, which includes most of Oconee County and part of Clarke County. He cited his desire to focus on his rapidly growing real estate business, Hillpointe, where he serves as vice president of external affairs.
“This decision has been incredibly difficult. Serving in the Georgia General Assembly has been one of the greatest honors of my life,”
Wiedower expressed his gratitude to his constituents and colleagues, and announced his intention to remain involved in the community, tackling challenges such as attainable housing through his work at Hillpointe.
