Georgia Lawmaker Steps Down, Creating Vacancy in General Assembly

A state representative, Marcus Wiedower, is resigning from the House after six years due to his company's rapid growth.

Wiedower, a Republican from Watkinsville, announced his decision on Tuesday, citing increased travel requirements that would take him away from the Capitol during the legislative session.

While I’m stepping away from elected office, I look forward to remaining actively involved in our community and continuing to help tackle Georgia’s most pressing challenges, especially attainable housing through my work at Hillpointe.

Wiedower works for Hillpointe, a real estate development and investment management firm, which has expanded significantly since he joined six years ago.
