Researchers from Dartmouth College used the ICIJ database to study how the ultrawealthy exploit the offshore world.

elites in both democratic and authoritarian countries are well-versed in financial secrecy tactics.
The research paper, Secrecy strategies: Global patterns in elites' quest for confidentiality in offshore finance, found that ultrawealthy individuals in countries with high financial transparency are just as likely to use offshore secrecy tactics as those in corrupt regimes.
