Hayley Adkins reports that the Mason County Extension Office received a large shipment of books from the International Book Project.
A pallet of 2,152 books, including many well-loved children's books, was delivered on October 23, thanks to a grant from the Lexington Rotary Club.
The books will be used to build up miniature libraries for individuals living in low-income housing.
The International Book Project began in 1965, when Harriet Van Meter traveled to India and saw a desperate need for books.
Author's summary: Mason County receives thousands of books for miniature libraries.
