Humboldt County residents, businesses, and nonprofits are taking action to help those at risk of losing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
With the potential indefinite suspension of SNAP on November 1, the community is stepping up to ensure access to healthy food for those in need.
“Treat Them With Dignity”
SNAP, also known as CalFresh in California, provides monthly food benefits to approximately 42 million low-income individuals, including 5.5 million Californians and 32,000 people in Humboldt County.
Local efforts, such as Food for People's volunteer work, are helping to pack boxes with non-perishable food items for those in need.
