Punjab Government Introduces Wildlife Hazard Control Rules 2025

The Punjab government has taken significant steps to protect wildlife and human populations from potential dangers posed by wild animals.

Two major measures have been implemented: the "Punjab Wildlife Hazard Control Rules 2025" and comprehensive amendments to existing wildlife protection laws, aiming to modernize environmental and biodiversity management in the province.

Fines for serious violations have increased from Rs500 to Rs10,000.

The new rules enable scientific, systematic, and immediate action in cases of conflict or danger between humans and wild animals, based on field reports, scientific evidence, and public complaints.

If a wild animal poses a threat to humans or other living beings, or is incapable of surviving due to disease or injury, the Chief Wildlife Ranger may order action.
