Fort Mitchell to Widen Sidewalks to Address Walkers vs. E-Scooters Issue
The city of Fort Mitchell is set to embark on a sidewalk design project to tackle a problem affecting many Northern Kentucky cities.
“We have more kids than ever walking to school,” said Mayor Jude Hehman.
The city has received a $2 million grant for sidewalk improvements, which will be used to widen and enhance existing sidewalks.
- The project aims to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.
- The city wants to complete the project before the state begins its own work on Dixie Highway.
Mayor Hehman emphasized the importance of getting the project done before the state's changes, which will include a new interchange, roundabout, and curbs and gutters.
“People are funny about when you do sidewalk work,” Hehman said.
