Demolition of Former Residential School on Meares Island
Hundreds of people witnessed the demolition of the former Christie Residential School on Meares Island.
The school operated until June 1971 and then moved to Tofino until 1983. Residential school survivors returned to the island to witness the demolition.

Former elected chief councillor Greg Louie, who attended the school as a six-year-old, described the day as a mix of good and bad feelings.
