Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is expected to make an announcement following Tuesday's special election in California, with many sources speculating she'll be retiring.
First elected to Congress in 1987, Pelosi, 85, has had a prolific impact in Washington, becoming the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House between 2007 and 2011 and then again from 2019 to 2023.
Even after stepping out of a Democratic Party leadership role, Pelosi continued to have a strong influence in the party, including playing a key role in President Joe Biden's decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race through private conversations.
She'll announce her retirement from Congress.
