New Housing Development Approved in Newhaven
Plans for a housing development in Newhaven have been approved by Lewes councillors.
The Lewes District Council’s planning committee approved an application to build 23 homes, comprising 17 three-bedroom houses and six one-bedroom flats, on brownfield land to the west of Transit Road.
- The application had seen objections from local residents and Newhaven Town Council.
- Concerns included the scheme resulting in an ‘overdevelopment’ of the site and its lack of affordable housing.

Despite concerns, the majority of the committee considered the scheme to be an acceptable development and opted to approve the application.
