Wholesale prices of cocaine have drastically dropped across much of Europe, prompting drug smugglers to adopt an unusual tactic: burying cocaine instead of selling it.
In December, Spanish authorities made a significant discovery in the town of Coria del Río, near Seville. Two speed boats carrying large packages were tracked up the Guadalquivir River, leading to a farm with armed guards.
A search of the farm uncovered two buried shipping containers, which held seven metric tons of cocaine, valued at approximately 420 million euros.
One of the cocaine bricks featured a distinctive marking: a devil emoji playing the guitar.
No comment from authorities on the reason behind burying the cocaine.
