The Baltimore Orioles have added depth to their outfield for the 2026 season by signing Leody Taveras, according to multiple reports.
Taveras spent the first five seasons of his professional career with the Texas Rangers. In 2025, he divided his time between the Rangers and the Seattle Mariners' organizations.
Last season was possibly the most challenging in Taveras's career. He struggled at the plate, finishing with a .205 batting average, 3 home runs, and 17 RBIs over 58 games before being demoted to Triple-A Tacoma in mid-June. However, his performance improved significantly in Triple-A, where he batted .280 with 11 home runs and 68 RBIs.
Currently, Taveras is playing winter ball in the Dominican Winter League for the Aguilas Cibaeñas. In 9 games, he is hitting .300.
He will join a crowded Baltimore outfield that includes Colton Cowser, Jeremiah Jackson, Tyler O'Neill, Dylan Beavers, and Heston Kjerstad.
