The Australian Education Union (AEU) Victorian Branch put a new pay and conditions offer to its members on Friday. The original state government proposal of 28.3% was raised to encourage teachers to accept. The offer runs from 2024 to 2027 and includes enhanced leave provisions. Union left faction leaders characterised the deal as inadequate. They called it a 'stop-gap' and urged members to vote against. Further industrial action is still planned despite the increased offer. The AEU will poll 33,000 public school teachers in the coming weeks next month. The government aimed to avert strikes with the revised offer.
