Marine Infantry Battalion Reverses Mustache Ban
A Marine infantry battalion has reversed a ban on mustaches after the battalion commander realized the order exceeded his authority.
Initially, Marines in the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, based at Twentynine Palms, California, were told to "police that moustache" due to repeated violations of male grooming standards.
The action was meant to "maintain good order and discipline,"
However, the ban was short-lived. According to Alex Lim, a 1st Marine Division spokesman, the order was "quickly rescinded".
The Marines can once again have mustaches, with the ban being lifted after it was posted on the unofficial Marine subreddit page.
