Alejandro "Bicho" Soler López, a second-year health and human performance major at Point Loma Nazarene University, has won the California State Triathlon in the 20-24 year age range.
Soler López's journey to becoming a triathlon champion began when he joined cross country in high school to earn physical education credits. A friend had encouraged him to join, and he quickly discovered his passion for running.
I just liked it because I was just getting better every time, and it was addictive to get better
He went on to participate in numerous running workouts and even ran a 10 km race with his mom, finishing in first place. This early success led to his victory in the Mission Bay Triathlon and ultimately, the California State Champion title.
